T&ATCA (Tuftin and Alterns Terreng Croquet Association) was founded in 1991. An attempt to use the croquet set for something more fun than the standard game led to several hours of creating all the rules that were found necessary. The founders were Kjetil Backe Altern, Geir Backe Altern og Bjørnar Tuftin, who immediately raised themselves to Senior Presidents of the Association.
The Association later invented more rules, banned several normal words from use during tournaments and added a system to keep score of who had had the best season.
Translating the profusion of documents to a language suited for international publishing has proven difficult due to the very peculiar jargon of the association.
